Fred’s Major Maintenance Facility Upgrade
In the coming months, Fred’s will commence a multi-million-dollar major upgrade to its head office and transport depot in Shepparton. The upgrade is part of the company’s ongoing investment to establish itself as one of the leading interstate transport providers in Eastern Australia.
The focus of the upgrade is a new Truck Maintenance Facility, which will incorporate:
- Four high flow truck service bays.
- Two semi-automated truck wash bays.
- A long-term refurbishment bay, including a spray booth.
- Major concreting works to the forward yard and building apron.
- Closed loop waste collection of vehicle wastage such as oils and coolants.
- Truck parts store room.
- Air and tank room.
- Administration office.
- Staff and driver tea room.
- Staff and driver toilets, showers and changerooms.
Fred’s Managing Director Danny Borg said: “The upgrade will dramatically improve our ability to inspect, service and maintain our vehicles onsite, delivering significant safety and cost benefits to the business.”
“It will also help us better manage vehicle waste, such as truck wash waste water, engine oils, coolants and other maintenance bi-products”
As part of this waste water management process, Fred’s have also entered in a trade waste agreement with Goulburn Murray Water.
Freds’ will engaged several well-established local contractors to complete the 1750m2 facility including local builder TMF Engineering and Watters Electrical. The project will also utilise the services of AFLO, Flowcrete, Speedywash and Aquatech.
Danny said: “Over the past few years we’ve made significant upgrades to our transport fleet, investing in new vehicles and refurbishments, so this new facility will provide a state-of-the-art facility for the vehicles to come home to!”
The project is expected to create several new jobs during the construction phase and upon completion, so has positive benefits for the local community.
The Truck Maintenance Facility is expected to be completed later this year.
